About Our Informal Flotilla

Why is the Sail Ionian informal flotilla different from your typical flotilla?

Like the idea of a relaxed, flexible route… No early cut-off time to be in harbour by… No pressure to join group meals or games? Then the Sail Ionian Informal Flotilla is for you!

Unlike many of our competitors we will not tell you to be in by a certain time. Provided you understand that there may be no space on the quay left, our crew are happy to long line you in the harbour entrance, even if you come in late!

The Yachts

Choose from our wide range of modern yachts – any yacht can join in the flotilla so you are not restricted in your choice.

The Route

Flexibility is our middle name! Ask us what the route is? We can give you an idea, but until the lead skipper has met all flotilla participants for the week, the route is yet to be decided. It all depends on the abilities of the guests, whether anyone is a returning sailor to the area, whether anyone has any particular preferences, the route of other flotillas, and the weather!

As an example, the flotilla may visit:

Sunday night – Spartahori, Meganisi

Monday night – Sivota, Lefkada

Tuesday night – Fiscardo, Kefalonia

Wednesday night – Kioni, Ithaca

Thursday night – Kastos or Kalamos

Friday night – Palairos, mainland Greece

Saturday night – Geni, Lefkada

…back to base by 0900 Sunday morning

Fancy going off by yourselves for a night? No problem! Simply rejoin the flotilla the following evening. Other possible visits include, but are not limited to: Little Vathi (Meganisi), Big Vathi (Ithaca), Abelike (Meganisi), Vasiliki (Lefkada)…

The Lead Crew

You will meet your informal flotilla lead crew on your arrival. The Skipper and Engineer will be on another yacht and will be guiding you around the Ionian one harbour at a time!

The Support

The lead crew will provide individual morning briefings as and when you are ready with weather forecasting, suggestions on lunch and swim stops en route. The on board engineer will be able to sort any reported niggles along the way. Each evening the skipper will find you a suitable space in the harbour, or longlined or at anchor outside.

The Other Boats

We are only taking a maximum of 8 flotilla boats per week, so that means the Sail Ionian Informal Flotilla is not going to be taking over harbours, or creating a huge raft.

The Socialising

Feel free to socialise with the other guests on the flotilla, and by all means go out to dinner together if you wish. But there is absolutely zero pressure to join in group meals, group activities, games etc as we don’t organise them!

The Cost

All this for £300 per boat per week. Prebooking is 100% necessary as spaces are limited. Email the office to book now!

The Dates

The 2023 flotilla dates are as follows:

The first week is the 18th June, then every week, until the last week on the 3rd September. Outside these time we find that bareboat guests do not have any issues finding berths as the harbours are not busy. We also provide detailed route planning and a list of phone numbers for pontoons you can book in advance.
