The Music Sail Festival returns to the Ionian following its debut in 2020 for another year of outstanding & exciting performances. World famous classical music artists perform alfresco, at the same time as promoting their passion for sailing, Greece & specifically the Ionian.
Join us this year for the main event on Lefkada from 1st – 8th August. These extraordinary festivities are not to be missed!
The Music Sail Festival is an annual classical music event held in Greece and organised in collaboration with Sail Ionian, by world renowned violin maker, restorer and expert Gabriele Jebran Yakoub, and his artistic director Maxim Rysanov – one of the world’s most vibrant and charismatic classical musicians.
Prestigious classical music stars perform at live open air concerts while enjoying the sun, sea and sailing around the stunning Ionian islands. Their performance locations around the Ionian include Porto Spilia on Meganisi, Maraboo Beach in Nidri, Lefkas and Apagio’s in Fiscardo, Kefalonia, with more locations to be added for 2021.
The artists include Alexandra Yangel – mezzo soprano, Jimmy Magsevi – tenor & professional gala singer, Vladislav Kozin – cellist, and Maxim Rysanov – violist.
Despite the challenges of 2020, the Music Sail Festival last year was a great success and its popularity will continue to grow year on year. Although the event had to be scaled down due to social-distancing, organiser Gabriele successfully led the musicians around the Ionian on board Frank, our Bavaria C50, and held several small concerts on their travels. The talented team sailed romantically from location to location each day, rehearsing along the way under sail, and casually turned up in their finest attire each evening for another show stopping performance!
We’d planned for our Informal Flotilla to arrive in time for the festival in Fiscardo, it was a fantastic turn out and a truly unique experience for our lucky guests. You only have to watch the video footage below to see why!
We are delighted to welcome a violin superstar, the Queen of the Proms Festival to this years impressive line up – Alina Ibragimova!
This years main event will be taking place between 1st & 8th August 2021. Location details will be confirmed nearer the time but if you are planning to be in the area, particularly if you have chartered one of our yachts for the week, we highly recommend you to come to a performance one evening – you’ll be blown away not only by their talent, but by their friendly and down to earth nature! And if you haven’t booked yet, consider this week in August as the best time to visit. Contact us for more details.
During the last week of July, Gabriele will take the Rastrelli Cello Quartet on tour stopping off on Lefkada, Kefalonia & Zakynthos in preparation for the main event the week later. The group will perform legendary music from famous movies, like Pirates of the Caribbean & Captain Corelli’s Mandolin!
