At Sail Ionian, we’ve created a relaxed approach to Ionian flotilla holidays. Our Informal Flotilla holidays Greece combines the freedom of independent yacht chartering with the reassurance of professional support. Each evening, our experienced team is on hand to assist with mooring along our set route, then you’re free to relax and explore ashore.
We will get you out sailing the day you arrive and let you bring the boat back at 9am the day of your return flight. Don’t spend the last night of your holiday at base – enjoy all your time in Greece out on the water!
You choose your pace and daily plans, while still having a friendly flotilla support network nearby. If you wish, you can even spend a quiet night or two at anchor away from the group and rejoin the flotilla whenever it suits you. You can contact the flotilla crew at any point to let them know where you're going, or for advice on anchorages and the weather.
Our routes take in the best of the Ionian ensuring you get to enjoy all the most popular harbours without the stress of finding the space to moor yourself. We like to long line in the harbour entrance and swim off the back of the boat, and we don't organise group meals or events, so there's no pressure to join in socially if you don't want to.

If you are choosing a flotilla for your first sailing holiday, take advance of our Assisted Sailing scheme, where one of our qualified instructors on board with you for the first day. Depending on your experience this will help cover important safety information and build the confidence and capability of you and your crew for rest of your holiday. All of this helps make your flotilla sailing holiday in Greece a stress free and relaxing experience.
You don't have to join us everyday, overall a more flexible alternative! If there's a harbour you'd rather go to one night just let us know, we can give you help and advice, and you can re-join the flotilla the following evening!

Our lead boat is crewed by at two professional skippers. The crew are on hand to help, keeping the freedom of sailing independently during the day while taking the stress out of mooring each evening. We try to be as unobtrusive as possible and let you enjoy your holiday. Sail at your own pace; arrive when it suits you, and join in socially only if you feel like it.
On Sunday when you arrive mid / late afternoon you’ll meet your flotilla team. We’ll introduce ourselves, talk through a proposed route for the week, and check in to see if you have any requests or particular places you’d like to visit. All yachts will then complete their individual handovers before departure.
Your first destination will be Little Vathi around an hour away on Meganisi. The flotilla team will be there to assist you with mooring on arrival.
If you’d like additional manoeuvring / Med mooring practice this will take place on Little Vathi town quay with the lead crew on Monday morning.
Monday – Friday
The flotilla begins exploring further afield. We normally stop in Sivota on Monday night; it's a great place to provision the boat before heading south. Our route during the middle of the week may include places such as:
You’ll continue to sail independently during the day, with flotilla staff ahead of you to assist on arrival.
Friday – Heading Back North
On Friday, the flotilla will generally begin returning toward the northern cruising area to prepare for the end of the week.

General Format During the Week
There are no mooring charges except for a government tax. This can be levied (around €10-15 per night) but is not always collected. Note that where you are on a taverna pontoon the mooring is provided free, but you are obliged to eat at that taverna.
