New Bavaria C46

This new Bavaria C46 is specified in the highly versatile four-cabin, four-head configuration, providing four generous double cabins, each with its own en-suite facilities. The flexible forward partition allows the two forward cabins to be opened up to create a significantly larger owner's cabin when required, giving the yacht an unusual combination of charter practicality and genuine private-owner comfort.

Air conditioning is included throughout, making the C46 particularly well suited to summer cruising in Greece. Despite her impressive 4.70m beam and exceptional accommodation, the C46 has been designed around straightforward handling, with sail controls led aft to the helm area and a balanced, easily managed sail plan. Independent testing has praised both the C46's sailing ability and its well-considered handling systems.

The result is a particularly attractive specification for the Sail Ionian Yacht Partnership — spacious and comfortable for owner holidays, easy to sail, and with the four en-suite cabins that work exceptionally well for Mediterranean charter.

Commissioning and Delivery

Your new Bavaria C46 is delivered from the Bavaria Yachts factory to the Adriatic, where it undergoes full commissioning prior to launch. This includes preparation of the yacht, stepping and rigging the mast, installation and checking of equipment and completion of the necessary pre-launch work.

Once commissioned and launched, the yacht is sailed to our base in Lefkas, Greece. Our commissioning and delivery allowance includes provision for an experienced Sail Ionian skipper to assist with the delivery passage, helping ensure the yacht arrives in Lefkas ready for its final preparation.

Owners are welcome to participate in the delivery passage, providing an excellent opportunity to become familiar with the new C46, its sailing characteristics and onboard systems before it begins operation in Greece.

Coding and Licences

For a Bavaria C46 to operate commercially within the Sail Ionian charter fleet, the yacht must be correctly owned, registered and documented and comply with the applicable Greek commercial, maritime and safety requirements.

For yachts entering the Sail Ionian Yacht Partnership, we arrange the establishment of the owner's Greek yacht-owning company and assist with the associated company and banking administration. We then coordinate the yacht's registration, commercial charter documentation, radio licensing, safety equipment and certification, together with the inspections and administrative procedures required before commercial operation begins.

Our Lefkas-based team manages this process through to the yacht entering service, allowing an overseas owner to purchase a new Bavaria C46 and have the yacht properly established, equipped and prepared for commercial charter operation in Greece.

Why Choose the Bavaria C46?

Exceptional space without becoming a bigger yacht
The 4.70m beam and modern V-bow produce extraordinary usable volume. The C46 provides the accommodation and social space associated with considerably larger yachts while retaining the practical advantages of a 46-footer.

Designed by Cossutti Yacht Design
The C46's modern hull form is about more than creating interior volume. Its broad forward sections, pronounced chines and beam carried aft provide high form stability and good sail-carrying ability, producing a yacht that is both spacious and rewarding underway.

Easy to sail with a small crew
Despite her size, the C46 has been designed around straightforward handling. Controls are concentrated close to the helm stations and a self-tacking jib can make tacking particularly simple — an important advantage for couples and families moving up to a larger yacht.

A clear, safe cockpit layout
The mainsheet is positioned on the coachroof rather than across the cockpit. This separates much of the sail handling from the main social area and means guests can relax in the cockpit without a mainsheet sweeping across the seating area during manoeuvres.

An exceptional Mediterranean cockpit
The C46's beam creates a genuinely substantial outdoor living space. There is plenty of room around the twin helm stations and cockpit seating, making the yacht particularly attractive for the style of outdoor living that comes with cruising the Greek islands.

Excellent sailing performance
The C46 is not simply about accommodation. Independent testing found a light and balanced helm and good sailing performance, with the hull's form stability allowing the yacht to carry sail effectively. A Code 0 provides an additional performance option over a wide range of reaching conditions.

Flexible accommodation
The C46 is available in several cabin configurations, ranging from an owner-orientated three-cabin yacht through to layouts designed for larger families and charter use. This flexibility means the same basic yacht can be configured very differently according to how the owner intends to use it.

Large, comfortable cabins
The considerable hull volume translates directly into accommodation. The forward area in particular can provide an exceptionally spacious owner's cabin, while alternative layouts maximise the number of private cabins for larger groups.

Four en-suite cabins for charter operation
For Yacht Partnership use, the four-cabin/four-head arrangement is particularly attractive. Four double cabins, each with its own private bathroom, give couples or families significantly greater privacy and create a premium charter proposition.

Flexible forward accommodation
With the appropriate layout, the forward accommodation can be configured to provide separate cabins for charter use while retaining flexibility for a more owner-orientated arrangement. This is particularly valuable in a Partnership yacht that needs to work equally well for personal holidays and commercial operation.

Excellent galley and living space
The C46's beam allows Bavaria to provide a substantial galley with extensive work surfaces and storage alongside a spacious saloon. Rather than feeling like accommodation fitted into a sailing hull, the interior has the proportions of a genuine holiday home afloat.

Useful storage for extended cruising
One of the less glamorous but important advantages of the C46 is the amount of storage available. Cockpit lockers, a large lazarette and substantial internal storage make the yacht much more practical for owners spending several weeks aboard.

Large water capacity available
For Greek island cruising, water capacity matters. The C46 can be specified with substantially increased freshwater capacity, reducing dependence on frequent marina visits and making longer periods at anchor more practical.

European Yacht of the Year 2024
The C46's combination of innovative hull design, accommodation, sailing performance and versatility was recognised when the model won European Yacht of the Year 2024, providing useful independent recognition of Bavaria's new-generation C-Line concept.
