Access blocked to Shipwreck Bay, Zakynthos

Navagio Bay off limits for the summer!

Greek news site GTP (Greek Travel Pages) reports that access to Zakynthos' famous Navagio (or Shipwreck) Bay has been banned for the summer. The Greek government is worried about the safety of the bay, which is prone to landslides.

A maximum of 15 boats at any one time will be permitted only within a certain 'safe sea area', and will not be permitted to anchor or allow swimming.

In 2018 a landslide in the bay injured seven people.
