I’m confused – Day Skipper or ICC?!

Great news has arrived today on 20th April 2019

If you are a guest of ours coming out sailing with us this season then most probably you will have received an email from the office stating that the Greek Port Authorities had decided that RYA Day Skipper was not sufficient for chartering a yacht bareboat in Greece any longer. The advice in the email was to apply for an ICC if you haven’t got one already.

HOWEVER… *durn durn duuuuurn* – we have received word today that the Greek Marine Ministry have reviewed their decision and the RYA Day Skipper certificate is sufficient for chartering bareboat in Greece! So if you’ve not applied for an ICC, then you don’t have to… and if you have applied for an ICC then all is not lost as several other countries prefer ICC over Day Skipper so it may come in handy.

If I haven’t made it clear enough, here is our official statement (you’ll find it on the homepage):

UPDATE 20/4/19 – RYA DAY SKIPPER ACCEPTANCE: FOLLOWING A COMPLAINT AND SUBSEQUENT REVIEW BY THE GREEK MARINE MINISTRY, THE MINISTRY CONFIRM THAT RYA DAY SKIPPER PRACTICAL CERTIFICATES WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR BAREBOAT CHARTERS IN GREECE.
