The Mlambe Project in a nutshell:

Malawi is the third poorest country in the world with less than a penny for every pound the UK has. They are short of 36,000 primary classrooms which means 2 million children are taught in the open or not at all.

The Mlambe Project makes a difference and the The Mlambe Project is special.

We certainly have made a difference! Since we started building in 2013 The Mlambe Project has provided fourteen classrooms, five teachers houses, three toilet blocks, a teachers’ development centre, two offices and a store room.

In 2022 and 2023, with you, we plan to deliver another eight classrooms and a toilet block;  a £100,000 building programme.

And we really are special.

  • We are special because of our commitment to innovative and ecologically sensitive building techniques.
  • We are special because we are such a tight partnership between UK volunteers and the local communities in Malawi. All building is done by local people, many of whom have been trained by The Mlambe Project.
  • And we are special because we run with no UK overheads so 100 pennies of every pound you give goes to Malawi. (125 pennies for every pound if you add gift aid!)

One off donations are wonderful and regular donations even better! Donors usually join our whatsapp group to get updates directly from the building teams and others in Malawi.

Why not join the Mlambe Project on our mission to ensure every child in Malawi enjoys a meaningful education.
