NEW YACHT – Bavaria C45 Calista

Another luxury Bavaria C45 joins the fleet

The final new addition for 2021 is another gorgeous Bavaria C45. Scugnizzo (new for 2020) proved really popular this year so another yacht with the same layout is sure to go down a treat – welcome Calista!

We are in love with the name Calista, it is girl’s name of Greek origin which is just perfect seeing as her new home will be here in Vliho on Lefkada!

Definition of Calista: most beautiful

Fun fact.. in ancient Greek mythology, Calista was a nymph loved by Zeus, whose jealous wife Hera turned her into a bear.

As Calista will be brand new for the 2021 season, she will be built in the Bavaria factory in Germany in the spring.

Come May time, a couple of the engineers will head up to Izola in Slovenia where Calista will be taken by road (it’s quite a sight, a yacht of this size on the back of a lorry…) to complete the commissioning. They’ll need to step the mast and tune the rigging, rig the sails, do the electrics, organise the domestics – basically do everything needed to make the boat sea worthy, safe and comfortable for the delivery.

The trip down from Izola to Vliho at this time of the year is much different to the deliveries in the early Spring with much kinder weather usually. It is a delivery trip though and not a cruise, so the trip will not be easy with long days and nights for a week or so.

With air conditioning, generator, electric winches, self tacking genoa and in mast furling main, Calista oozes luxury and ease of sailing, at the same time as offering great sail performance. The C Series may be beamy but they are otherwise streamlined and quick through the water!

Down below there are 3 large double cabins. The forward master cabin has a separate toilet and shower ensuite and walk round bed as well as plenty of space for changing. The aft doubles are equally as roomy and light and they share the main heads in the saloon. Up on deck the twin tables create a comfortable dining area under the shade of the bimini. The wide bathing platform is perfect for when you are at anchor – it gives you more space to relax and easy access into the water with the bathing ladder.

Wide side decks for moving up forward with ease and importantly, large foredeck for those sun worshippers!

Calista will be a little later to join the fleet as the charter license paperwork takes some time to finalise once she gets here to Vliho so she is available to charter from mid July 2021 but be quick if you like the look of this new beauty because she already has several bookings. View the Pricing & Availability on our website here. If you’ve sailed a boat this size before (and hold the relevant Day Skipper/ICC etc) then you can take her out on a Bareboat Charter. Alternatively, join our informal flotilla in high season for mooring assistance and route advice. For those unqualified, take one of our professional skippers with you for a Skippered Charter and explore the Ionian in real luxury.
